Under 14 CFR § 107.17, a person may not act as remote pilot in command, visual observer, or manipulate the flight controls of a small UAS if —
Why: 14 CFR § 107.17 prohibits a person from participating in the operation "if he or she knows or has reason to know that he or she has a physical or mental condition that would interfere with the safe operation of the small unmanned aircraft system."
Imports the manned-aircraft airman medical certificate requirement (part 61/67), which does not apply to part 107 remote pilots; part 107 uses a self-assessed "knows or has reason to know" standard instead.
Treats all prescription medication as automatically disqualifying, but § 107.17 only bars operation when the person knows or has reason to know a condition would interfere with safe operation — not every medication use.
