A non-towered airport has no UNICOM, FSS, or any other published communication frequency. What frequency should be used for self-announce broadcasts there?

Why: The FAA study guide states: "A MULTICOM frequency of 122.9 will be used at an airport that is non-towered and does not have a FSS or UNICOM," and "For non-towered airports that do not have a UNICOM or any other frequency listed, the MULTICOM frequency of 122.9 will be used."

  • Confuses the typical (but not universal) UNICOM frequency of 122.8 with the MULTICOM fallback frequency, which applies specifically when no UNICOM or other frequency is published.
  • 121.5 is the VHF emergency/guard frequency, not a routine traffic-advisory frequency for airports lacking a published CTAF.
